Notes
After a planned rest day was back at it again today. The first mile I felt a little sluggish. My stomach was bloated (probably from overeating at my mom's yesterday) and my quads were tight. But by the second mile I didn't notice any of that.
Overall I was pleased because I feel I accomplished my two goals. I wanted to average between 8:50-9:10 pace and I wanted to control my heart rate. I feel I was just about within that range for every split. Even the 9:13 is a tad quicker because I had to stop for traffic to cross the street. It definitely became harder to control my heart rate in the couple of miles. I probably could have kept my rate under 170. But in the last 800 meters my pace was 9:01. So mentally I wanted to finish at 9:00 minutes or better. Had my pace been 9:04 I probably wouldn't have cared, but for some reason 9:01 bothered me. So I compromised a bit. I allowed myself to accelerate just a little bit. But I still tried to keep my heart rate as close to 170 as possible.
Overall legs still feel good. Mild Achilles tightness in my left leg which is the good leg. I also have mild soreness in my quads, but much less than the previous two days. Overall I feel good.
