A bit of a surprise with this result.
Paced the first 30K or so by the Garmin and staying ahead of the 3:15 bunny. Heat or weather didn't seem to be a factor for me. Felt a bit hot early on but later cooler. Weather actually seemed favourable.
At one point I realized I forgot to tape my nipples but took the petroleum jelly stick and all was well.
Didn't want to stop at each water station but felt I needed to to prevent taking in air leading to cramps. In total it may have been only a little over a minute stopped or walking, but not sure.
I think I had 5 or 6 gels, plus water and Gatorade from aid stations.
Didn't quite squeeze out every minute in the last 10K, but I wouldn't claim to have left more than 2 minutes out there. I just had little reason today to subject myself to more and a good chance it would actually cause a cramp and actually lead to lost time, plus likely more damage to the body. Legs were getting progressively more cement-like in the last 7K or so. Still I was surprised to be holding 4:50-5:00, quite a bit faster than last year's marathon I think.
DD got some video from a few points 32-36K.
Doesn't feel like the run was very hard on the body but we'll see more clearly about that over next couple of days.
