Notes

Today's goal was to do some speedwork.

I am going to go out on a limb and consider this a Fartlek. I was mixing in some sprints and being playful. I would say to myself, "sprint to that tree up ahead" or "fast to the end of this block", etc. Stuff like that. On the first mile, I wanted my mile to be under 9 minutes, and I wanted my rest/recovery pace to be quite high too...basically, I wanted to see what I could do, so I am pleased with 8:19.

In fact, that may be my fastest mile since I was a kid! I think I went 8:30 on the opening mile of the Steeplechase with Pete pacing me, and that was killer...this was just training.

The second mile was more sprints mixed with rest, but I backed off on my rest pace after my sweet first mile.

Great work buddy - I love the informal fartleks as well. "I'm going to bust it until that stop sign", stuff like that mixes it up a bit. You're getting quicker by the day!

Wow, dude! Sub 9 for 2 miles and an 8:19 first mile! Awesome stuff! I haven't done any fartleks in a while and now reading this makes me want to do one. Maybe next week!
