Notes

As they say, you've got to start somewhere. Decided to jump in this trail race last night. Plan was to run conservatively. I thought I did, but it was quickly apparent that my initial effort was pretty unsustainable. There was a 10 minute chunk in the middle where I felt like I wasn't moving. The uphills were soul crushing. I did recover some towards the end and didn't totally cash it in.

I had thought that my road PR, 36:55 in Eugene when I was 15 was a reasonable goal, but I was well short of that. Last year Nick Arciniaga, a 2:11 marathoner, won in 33:10. While I'm sure he wasn't laying it out there, I think it's safe to say that it's a tough course.
