Ran what turned into kind of an odd workout. Initially wanted to run just a harder, steady, 3-mile run. What it turned into was basically a mile repeat workout. Ran a mile and had to stop because the pace was a little too hard, then rested for like 1-2 minutes then ran another (which I had to again briefly stop about 1/2 way), then rested again before running a final mile. Definitely not where I want to be or ever thought I'd be. Miles were 8:27, 7:48 (with a break in the middle) and then an 8:02. Not sure what to say as I felt like I was pushing, even just over 8 min. pace. Never have felt this tired running paces like this. A year or so ago this was an easy day pace. Trying to make things work and need to keep working at this. Granted, I probably should have warmed up with a slower first mile, then did the actual harder runs. I'm 54 and need to realize that and start training like a 54-year-old. At least I have an idea where I'm at fitness wise and have a baseline of sorts. Right hamstring is OK but was a little tight the rest of the evening. Just having a hard time getting over this, but again, I haven't been doing all that I can to get it better.
