Notes

Ran hard this morning. A climber friend came over and we went running in the morning, followed by climbing in the afternoon (double duty!!). My friend is almost a foot taller than me, and very strong, so needless to say I was huffing and puffing trying to keep up with him. According to my buddy, we were averaging 8:10 to 8:30 min/mile pace for the first 5+ miles, which I definitely felt in my tired legs. We did the Grist Mill loop around Patapsco, and before heading back, I introduced him to the trails I went on Thursday, where he proceeded to run ahead of me and take the wrong turn. That wrong turn cost him a few more miles (i stopped to wait for his return), and resulted in us sprinting back the last 1.5-2 miles to my car (at a 7-7:30 min/mile) pace as we were late in meeting another climber friend to go climbing at the Rockville Earth Treks. In the end I ran approximately 7 miles, and he ran approximately 9 miles. Suffice to say our legs were pretty achy and the endorphins were kicked in high gear. We ended up having a great afternoon climbing session where I had some strong lead climbs and climbed until my arms and legs were rubber. We had only eaten a protein bar and banana each while at the gym (no lunch), so upon returning at 5pm, we scarfed down some food. It was a great day!!!
