Arrived pretty late (7pm), but I am soooooo glad I came! I was feeling a bit down/depressed because work has been crazy and I realized I wasnt going to make it on time (worst feeling to have during the day). I tossed around with the idea of just going home and going for a jog, but I felt, better late than never, so decided to go ahead to practice no matter how late I was. Couldnt have made a better decision. Practice was 3 sets of paced sprints along 2 continuous loops (800meter ish roadway) that included a hill on either end, with the hill to finish off being a little steeper. I warmed up on lap 3 and jumped in starting at lap 4. I got in 3 paced sprints along the set course and tried to make them really good/fast since I knew I was doing half the sprint sets. At the end I ran the 1.5mi back to the highschool and then ran back to the suburbs 1.5 mi which also allowed me to recuperate some mileage. I calculated I ran 6 mi total, 1 less than everyone else. I felt great running today despite the heat, quick on my feet and able to recall some last bursts of energy to finish strong. I made sure to stretch for about 15-20 min after the workout to loosen up my legs.
