Notes

This was not actually yoga, but just two stretches that I've done in yoga before.

I did pigeon pose for each leg, but held the pose for three minutes with each leg. It was fantastic, but uncomfortable. I need to do this stretch more often to work on my hips. I got the idea for three minutes from MaryAnn Harpel who teaches the willPower and Grace class at Dow Jones. She has quite an impressive fitness resume [below] (and in speaking with her I discovered she used to do shotokan karate). So, perhaps holding these stretches for longer periods of time is the key to better flexibility. The longest I've held my full straddle stretches has been about 30 seconds or one minute. Though, stretching like this requires an additional commitment of time.
