Notes

I was so happy to get this run in before karate class and my commute to NYC. Unfortunately, I made a fatal mistake yesterday. I told someone I was so happy that my calves hadn't been bothering me at all. Then this morning, my right calve muscle was in significant pain, a few miles into the run. I was already headed to the turnaround point of my out-and-back, so I continued on stopping twice to stretch it out as best I could. It's quite frustrating to have to deal with this again. I managed to find a running form where I had minimal pain at strike time: hips forward and leaning back just a hair of an inch. My pace wasn't too bad considering the problems, but it was not a very happy run I'm sorry to say. Also, using my headlamp would have made things a little bit easier, but I left it behind relying on streetlights which were sparse in some places. I noticed that most 3 and 4am drivers use their high-beams constantly :)

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for my calve muscle after a night of rest.

At least it didn't rain on me at all. But I wonder what I should check-off for night-time runs when the sky is clear, but there is no sun.

Well I'm happy that this run went so well, but I'm sorry about your calf for today's run. Maybe you could take it down a notch. I'm not suggesting you break your streak :) just do a few easier lower mileage days and stretch and ice and user the roller! You've been making awesome progress with your fitness, don't overdo it because you are you and get injured.
