Notes

Was lucky to come back a day early from vacation to be able to do #6 in the Annapolis series. Fun morning. We met at the Brokenland Pkwy PnR strictly out of habit because RT 100 PnR would have been more convenient/quicker. Still, 7 of us in Marsha's van made for good conversation. Marsha on her antiquated, never updated, portable GPS with Mike F riding shotgun using his phone. Marsha's GPS showed us basically going in the bay. Arrived without incident and then it was parking space selection time. No, no, no, no, there's one. Which one? The big one on the end? No, said Marsha. I'll squeeze the van into the next one. Out came the clowns, bears etc. Denise and Karsten were laughing which is good for Denise.

The AS series is easy. You pay up front by February and then show up. Low key, pull tabs for results. We started off and they had us run for about .1 and then a complete 180 turn around a cone to go back. Not very good. The Downs 5 miler is pretty flat as it is near the Bay. For the individual races, the Age Groups are 10 year categories although for the Champ Series standings it is 5 year age groups. No way that I can compete in the 50 to 59 with guys like Matt Mace not even taking 3rd place.

I was really working during this race. By mile 3 I was thinking how nice it would be to slow down but I knew Bill was right behind me and he is right behind me in the standings. Pain in the side, please let me slow down. No. No slowing for you.

Held steady after the slightly uphill mile 2. Passed a few people, mostly women. One woman was belching every few seconds. Quite attractive.

We popped out of the woods and back to main road in the park. You think you are close to being done but not really. Pass several parking lots. Reminds me of Cherry Pit when you get back to the school. You still have over a half mile to go.

For the standings, my buddy Ross wasn't running today which puts me I believe in 5th and him out with 3 strikes. Bill finished just 5 seconds behind me and should move up to 6th. Chris did well enough I believe to keep her place, Marsha persevered through the race, Faye held steady, Mike Fleming held steady. Alan fought an injury. Pretty nice morning. Bumper to bumper on Mountain road coming back. Quick side trip into DD and then home.
