Thanks to a gigantic organization snafu at the baggage check, I didn't get to my corral onto and ended up starting behind a few thousand people. As a result, I spent most of the first mile zig-zagging around slower runners (thus the slow first mile). The legs started to hurt around mile 9 (started to feel the impact of foot fall). Apparently four weeks is not enough time to recover from a marathon. Being on my feet so much on Saturday (to watch the olympic trials) and Sunday morning (line for the shuttle, on the shuttle bus, in the baggage check mess, etc) probably didn't help. The limiting factor in the race was definitely the pain in my legs. My breathing was comfortable throughout the race, so the fitness was there, but the body was not willing, I guess. Fortunately I was able to finish strong (passed about 25 people in the last few miles). The logistics sucked, but the course and crowds were great, so overall, it was a good experience.
