My goal for this race was to run under 27:00, which I figured I could do based on the 10K I ran a couple of months ago. I figured I'd try to hit 8:30s, which would give me some wiggle room if it turned out I started to fast and faded a bit towards the end.
The plan came together nicely - splits were 8:35, 8:28, 8:37, and 0:47. There was a few places where we were running right into the wind in that last mile, which kind of sucked. The only problem I had during the race was some wicked reflux. I had a rosemary bagel with peanut butter for breakfast, and I think I just need to step away from the flavored bagels. Both times I've had one pre-race this year I've had awful reflux while running. Definitely need to stick to plain or just have something else in the future.
