Notes
Mardi-Gras Rock & Roll Half Marathon in New Orleans. Great race, super-flat course. New PR by over 2 minutes. Ran the first 8 miles pretty conservatively (including 2 bathroom stops). Hit mile 8 at 1:28 and realized if I ran sub-10 minute miles for the rest of the race, I could PR. Had absolutely no idea if that was going to work out for me or not, but figured I'd be more annoyed if I didn't try than if I did try and blew up a mile from the end.
Splits:
1 - 14:15 (bathroom stop 1, about 3 min)
2 - 10:25 (right about where I wanted to be pace-wise)
3 - 10:53
4 - 10:45
5&6 - 20:44 (didn't hit the split button quite hard enough, it would seem)
7 - 9:55 (had decided to pick up the pace a bit... but not quite that much)
8 - 11:12 (bathroom stop #2)
9 - 9:38
10 - 9:45
11 - 9:24
12- 9:45
13 - 9:13
.1 - 0:53
The quicker pace was definitely hurting a the end, but I hung on to it. Am now thinking that a 2:10 (or even a 2:00!) half is not entirely out of the question.
