Notes

LMLS, 10.1 mi Aerobic w/ 7 x 30sec strides near end, 142 bpm avg HR, Green Virratas; SAM Medium (skipping, lunge walking, lateral skips, etc. before doing planks and myrtl).

Not as snappy as the run 2 days ago; probably some fatigue from 3 days in a row running after a nice recovery week following a marathon. I felt great during the run, maybe some tightness in my calves, no big deal. But when I started doing the strides, my legs felt like lead! For as easily as I ran 2 days ago, and as good as I've felt on all of these runs, I did not expect the strides to feel strained at all. Definitely a residual element of fatigue that shows that there is still significant recovery that needs to occur. I probably won't be fully recovered from the marathon for another week or two (based on the 1 day recovery for every mile raced theory). At the same time, there is some fitness that is still there that is making these runs feel easy. I'm not sure if I would be better off taking 3 full weeks off from running, then ramping back up? Or if I'm fine to start ramping back up now, knowing that I may risk injury, but that I'll be better prepared for Afton on July 7? I honestly feel like the injury risk is low, and that I'll be fine with what I'm doing as long as I don't overdo it (too much too soon). I will skip the Brian Kraft 5K on Monday (Memorial Day) because I think that I would be tempted to race it.
