Good to be back on the trails. Nice course, super hot day. 90+ degrees – hottest day of the year so far says the news guy. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a hot weather runner or person for that matter so I am happy with how this run went. The heat certainly had an impact, but I still felt good. After 7 miles, a cold rain with huge drops appeared from out of nowhere for about 10 minutes and felt amazing. Ran into Gina and Tammy four times or so, and at one point Gina told me to dump a cup of ice down my shirt. That helped! Before the last 3 miles, a volunteer was offering to dump ice cold water on us (no charge even, heh), and I took him up on it. That felt great as well. Speaking of volunteers, this race has some of the best and an awesome aid station that has everything. You pass it 8 times (figure 8 course). Met some new folks along the way and had some good conversations. The trails were good and only muddy in a few sections, and it is always fun to run by waterfalls. Pizza at the end.
