Notes

Rust Buster 5k in our town. I was pretty scared of this since I haven't done a running race in a year (besides Boston, which I didnt race since I didnt have the fitness for racing), and I haven't done a track workout or any speed since the first weekend of February. It was a very small local 5k and I was definitely intimidated by the fit looking high schoolers everywhere, but after they sprinted the first half mile, I picked them all off and got my first 5k win in over three years. My pacing was very conservative at first because I was terrified of how bad 5ks hurt. But I probably didn't go hard enough because it didnt really hurt that bad. Hopefully I can get myself to do another one and improve. Splits were 6:20, 6:19, 5:59. The first half was net uphill and the second half was net downhill, and there was probably about 3/4 mile of trails in there. I'm satisfied with this. In bigger news, Matt was actually satisfied with his race too. He came in second to some kenyan looking guy. And in biggest news, Bennett ran his first tot trot and narrowly avoided being chicked. He came in second.
