Notes

Went out at a pretty good clip which had me wondering if I was going out to hard. I decided to walk the last 1/3 of the way up Montcalm rd hill prior to entering the North Country Trail. At that point I settled into a nice comfortable pace and stayed with that for the next 5 miles give or take. I did walk the hills on the power lines. Once we came off the power lines and back into the woods I slowly started picking off some runners. At the point where the trail becomes and old two track around the 6.5 mile mark I decided to push the limits and see how long I could hang on. Surprisingly I was able to keep it up and at times maybe push a little harder. I honestly could not be happier with how I ran this race today. The wheels never fell off. I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for better than 20 years and getting stronger each day. Let’s see where this can go from here.

Edit* I also got second in my age group 😁

Gotta admit, I didn't expect you to be this fast. Well done!

Thanks 😁, I’m still smiling about it. I honestly thought sub 1:40 was a very lofty goal and really didn't think it would be doable. Having time to reflect on it now I really think I left another minute out there on the course. I think I could have pushed a little harder, sooner. For the record, I’m not going into the Mummy with the same attitude, my plan there is to use it as a training run for September and run it slow and smart. I’m having so much fun right now. I cant wait for Sep 10th.
