knew i was in subpar shape, went out relaxed. wasnt sure if I was even in the neighborhood of 3:00 so i felt surprised when i tried to "stay easy" and was on pace for 3:00. very comfortable thru 5 at 34:00 so 6:48 pace. remained relaxed thru the next 5 at 33:51 (6:46 pace). lots fo ups and downs in NYC and on teh ups, i just shrugged over teh slower times. was fine with the idea of going slow, i realized that as long as i didnt blow up, i would finish near 3 so i took no chances. slowed a bit in over next 5, 34:37 (6:56 pace). was worried i took 59th street bridge too hard but i think it was fine anways. actually ran that mile in exactly 6:51, perfect pace, with slow up and but fast decline. First ave was fun, seeing the girls etc. . i started to get fatigued and was a little out of my mind at 18 when i went by the whote castle. forgot the harriers would be there but jeard my name screamed and looked up a little pate. 34:23 was that 4th 5 mile, so 6:55 pace.

so at 20m mark, i am within range of breaking 3:00 and i pick it up and bit but clock a 6:56 mile when i thought i wwas doing 6:30ish. started to feel heavy legs and was scared of locking up. consciously decided that i wouldnt push. i figured the risk would mean a lot of pain, needless when i havent trained, and could result in walking painfully over the last mile. stayed relaxed and kept near 7:00. legs did start to do the involuntary contractions-thighs. awful feeling but was able to keep up. 45:09 for final 6.2 (7:17 pace) with mu guess of teh final mile near 8:00.

feel fine about it considering lack of hard training and being overweight (155! lol)
