Felt pretty good... eventually. Legs were sore right out of the gate, and for the first three laps I kept almost telling myself to bag the < 3:59 goal and just make it an easy training run. Fortunately, I didn't listen. After the 3rd lap I was a minute and a half ahead, 4th lap was not much harder... 5th lap was harder, but not brutal.
Pretty wet, but temps were good, and the rain tapered off for the last couple of laps. Even when it was raining, we were mostly shielded by trees.
1st master second year in a row -- 2nd overall behind Joe Uhan. I'll take that any day. One guy was hanging with me (or vice versa) most of the race, but he dropped off in the last lap, finished 4 minutes behind me. His first 50K -- not bad.
