Notes

Super proud of this one. I wanted an 8 or 9 mile tempo around race pace. I knew it would be ambitious but I piggy-backed on the fact that I had 80 minutes from the start of the run until I needed to be in work meetings. I was also fueled by a latte that Claire made me. I decided to run a bit later and get some work done first (mostly to prepare for those meetings). Fantasstic decision. 10 minutes into drinking my coffee I shat my brains out so that was a win. I should do that again. Some of it didn't even get submerged in the toilet water. I guess the kids didn't feel like swimming today. I felt like it's been freakin months since I haven't pooped on a run.

The run was a different kind of hard. It was a test of continuing at pace when it gets tough. I didn't look at my watch except at the mile marks so I was also testing my intuitive pacing. I was really surprised how quick the first 4 miles were. They felt pretty steady. I just focused on making sure I felt smooth and didn't overstride without pulling back too much to finish out the run and not bonk. Success. Got my 10k record during this too - 36:17. Not too bad, kid. Not too bad. Never stopped except for a quick breather at 9 which is also great. Saw best friend Connie chatting with Pat outside when I got back. Connie asked if I was training for a race. Paris 2024 marathon, bitch. JK I told her about the Madison half. She said I made her feel inadequate seeing me run every day. She's like in her 70s or something so I think it's okay she's not running every day lol. I showered quick after and went to my meeting still sweating. I had my camera on too with a splotchy face and a frickin towel lodged under the back of my shirt. Oops.
