I created a variation of a workout in the free training plan I'm using. It wanted me to do 5x400 at HM race pace with 90 seconds rest. What kind of joke does that plan think I am? Changed it to 8x400 at threshold pace (5:30-6ish) with 200m jogging rest. 2 mile warm up and 2 mile cool down. It went pretty well I think. Haven't done a track workout in a long while so it's hard to tell. The first track I tried to go to was fenced off but luckily there was a dirt track right across the street that wasn't so I used that instead. Felt like Eliud Kipchoge on the dirt tracks of Kenya. Anyway it seemed like the perfect effort. Like I could've done more intervals but it was also pretty difficult by the last few intervals. My watch was overestimating the distance a little bit each lap unless the dirt track is actually longer than 400m. Either way, it wasn't that off because by the 8th interval I was about 100m behind where I started - so maybe add a couple seconds to each interval time. Legs aren't fully recovered from Sunday. Didn't feel freaky fresh. This will be the first week of interval Tuesdays. Eventually Thursdays will start joining the party with hill workouts and fartleks and such, but the rest of this week will be easy. Short strength workout after. Also starting to focus a bit more on nutrition.
