Notes

An awesome day. We didn't have much time between the bus at and the race, which was probably a good thing (only about 2 hours). The weather was so awesome, about 55-60 at race time and overcast. My nose was running a little bit, but that was ok. At the gun, Joe and I went out pretty fast. A St. X kid was in first, then Joe, then me. The St. X kid gave up after a while, and I never saw him again. A red kid whose team I didn't know got in front of Joe and I next. I dropped a few steps behind Joe, but coach was yelling, "FIVE HARD STEPS, FISHER," so I got back up with him. This all happened behind the church. My first When we entered the woods for the first time, I was right with Joe and the red kid was still in front of him, but he was dying. He faded and dropped back by the parking lot, but another red kid and 2 St. Xers replaced him in first. The second mile marker was right before the second woods, but I dont remember the time. On the huge downhill in the woods, I got water in my shoe from the creek. Coming out of the woods, I passed Joe and got up towards the front pack of 2 Xers and the red kid. Coach was yelling his head off, telling me to "WIN IT!" I was thinking, wow, no way, but I had enough left. There were maybe 1000m left. We had to go around the soccer fields, up a small hill, then through the woods. I got with the pack of 2 blue and 1 red kid with 800 to go. An annoying blue kid was really making me mad; whenever I tried to pass him on the left, he'd move in front and slow down. The I went on the right side and he didnt expect it, so he was finished. The red kid was next, on the soccer field side closest to the finish. I got the final blue kid on the hill leading to the woods, and I stepped off the course a little. I don't think it mattered/anyone cared. I was wondering in the woods if the kid was going to come back; I didn't have much left. I came out of the woods and finished 1st in 17:44, which was awesome. Everyone was cheering and it felt really good, and I got a coffee thing.

Loveland boys got 2nd, girls 2nd. Milford was really good, gotta watch out for them.
