Started warming up just after 6 with 20-min easy - Well there was a little progression in there. Did drills a little light stretching, and slipped on my lunaracers for a couple of strides. The conditions were wet, muggy, but cooler than it has been.
This was my first half so in some ways I didn't know what to expect. Took off pretty conservative when the gun sounded. Came through the first mile in 5:29, which was slower than I'd have liked. Could tell I picked it up coming through 2 miles in 10:50 (5:22). From there I didn't really slow but didn't run much faster. I was working, and decided I'd try an pick it up at mile 8. I tried but was in a 5:20's rhythm. There were some rolling hills but the main hill was from 11-12, which is pretty much steadily up. That mile was a 5:43, then I came home in 5:22. Happy with my first half, winning by over 6-min and feeling strong with a long week at work and running 85 miles as well. Splits are posted below.
5:28, 5:22, 5:25, 5:28, 5:25, 5:25, 5:28, 5:28, 5:26, 5:29, 5:22, 5:43, 5:24.
