Sub 17. Check. Just Barely.

I haven't felt this good about a race since Rehoboth. I wasn't sure if I would be able to PR tonight. Legs felt dead initially from yesterdays workout. I told myself get around 5:25 through mile 1 and see how you feel. I still felt good so then I wanted to see if I could get under 11 through 2. If I could do that then we would let it rip. I saw the 5:30 mile click and I knew it was time to give it hell. Everything in me was telling me to settle for an easier mile. I started doing 10 second intervals where I would push the pace and then give myself a couple seconds to regroup and then do it again. Counting really slow. This seemed to keep me focused on going forward. Then at mile 3 I heard someone yelling 16:30 is on the clock. I knew it would take a sub 30 second tenth to get there (Me good at math). If I didn't give everything I had in the first 3 miles, I definitely gave more than everything I had in the last tenth. I finished and the guy who finished in front of me said I just missed it. EJ checked the results and said I was just under probably because I didn't start on the line. This is a pretty long write up for a run just under 17 minutes, but hey thats okay. Goal number 1 for 2012 is complete.
