Notes

Vacation day today, so I slept a little later; and missed a nice cool almost-Fall morning. Oh well. I still got myself out there earlier than I would have, had I been working today, so I've got that going for me. I saw some very interesting occurrences, wildlife-wise. First at about a mile and a half, a big fat groundhog was waddling across the street about 20 yards ahead of me. As I approached, he found a shady spot just about his size and hunkered down; looking very much like a big pile of leaves [or a huge horse-poop] ... In the MIDDLE of the road! He didn't move a twitch as I trotted past, which led me to realize how so many of them get splattered around here. Next, around the turn a half-mile later, a mini-herd of three deer galloped past me. I've seen plenty of deer around, but NEVER at Tea Time. Thirdly, another half mile along, a heated Post-Game discussion on the front porch; I think the discussion was in reference to Jimmy Rollins, as all I heard was a drunken bellow of "How can you SAY that???!!!" <mumbled response> "Then JUST Shut the FUCK UP!" Needless to say, THAT put a spring in my step! The final Out of the Ordinary Brush with Nature, was quite tragic; a small Garter Snake, about 18" recently deceased but the side of the road. At first I thought he was playing possum as some will do, then I noticed the divot in his back, about 1½" wide ,,, "Death by Bicycle" :,-{
