I was a little pressed for time, since I had to pick D'Kid up from this afternoon's birthday party fun for one of her classmates. So I shortened my run up just a tad. As luck wood have it, I heard a woodpecker going about his business somewhere nearby as I approached the 2-Mile mark ... You know how you can always HEAR a woodpecker, but never get to SEE one??? Well this guy was drilling a tree right by the road; when I trotted by, I startled him and he flew for home. At least I THINK it was home - I saw him stick his bright-red-crested noggin into a hollow about 20 feet up in a broken off tree trunk
