First Leg of 2012 Back to School 20K Solo Relay - Woke up to some bright pink clouds on an indigo background; Fall is just around the corner, isn't it? I didn't have the signal in my favor on the way out, but since there was no traffic on the Pike this early on a Saturday, I just breezed across on the Red. I don't think I'd run this route in a while, but it's almost customary to start my 20K Solo Relays with it. I made excellent time, reaching the far RR X-ing in a shade under 13-minutes. I don't know in NJ Transit changed there schedule, or I've just been timing my runs poorly, but it seems for-EVER since I've been able to "race a train" I cruised through the next mile easily, listening to the birds and watching the shy lighten up, as the clouds thickened up. I got caught for real at the Pike coming back in and had to wait out the Red Light for half a cycle, then rolled on home. I tried not to put any juice into the last quarter, but I must've picked it up slightly, coming in just under 26. We'll see how that stands up for the rest of the day. More to Come
