Notes

I'd been around 5:10 for the mile on the track so I just was hoping to get under 5 min. The gun went off and it was a shit show like always. People flying down the course. I felt like I was at my race pace about 25 meters in and stayed at it the whole time. I didn't have another gear. I was probably in 50th at the 400, and kept moving up as people began to settle in. I kept an eye on a few guys that have beaten me on the track earlier but they were a ways up. At Indiana Street I knew I was about 1K in and if I could push it the 400 meters to Coal Creek, I'd be able to see the finish. I was racing hard the racing the people in front of me. The last 200 I made a last ditch effort to catch a pack of 8 runners in front of me, including the guys from the track. I caught them all but in the last 75 meters I felt that twinge in my right hammy. A sudden knot and I was lucky the finish line was right there. I made it, got 20th overall with a solid time but my hammy took a toll. I did a cool down, put on compression tights, bought a bag of ice and drove home icing my hammy.

Been taping it and icing, and stem from the race through the following weekend.
