Small heat with only 8 of us. I knew I wanted to go out fast, even too fast. See what I had. We were in lanes for the first 100 then cut in. I was in 4 and I tried to key off the guy in lane 5. When we cut in at 100 meters he was ahead of me and I was in second. I wanted to try to tuck in on him for the 2nd 200 to let him block the wind. I couldn't get to him. Went through 200 at 31 then fought the headwind and hit the lap at 64. I was tired but I knew I just had to keep it going. The 3rd had a tailwind so easy enough to keep form. Hit the 600 at 1:38. I started to lock the last 100. Had a headwind that made me feel like I was running straight up and down and not moving forward. I kept fighting but started to lock up. I fought through the finish at 2:13. 31, 33, 34, 35. I was happy with how it went. Race went by fast. 3rd place was 2:20 and the winner was 2:06 so I was stuck by myself.
This old man at 47 still has some wheels.
