Notes
Beautiful day for a run -- set a PR for 10 miler, beating a 10-miler time I had set back in 2006.
Stuck to the 4:1 which kept my Heart Rate in check, but during runs I was trying to keep the speed so the heart rate would stay under 170, if it started creeping up, I would dial it back a touch. That seemed to work well to keep me moving and I didn't ever feel really winded. Even up most of the hills, I would be slowing a little up the hill but keep powering through it rather than having to stop running altogether. Perhaps most important, my legs never reached a point where they got heavy or sore so between that and keeping the Heart Rate/ Breathing in check, my pace didn't really fall off during the race.
In reviewing the results, I noticed that I actually had negative splits (at least between the first half and second half). I did the first 5 miles in 57:01 and the last 5 in 54:13. Looking at the graph, I picked up the running pace over the last five miles.
