What a cool event! Was over 100 degrees heat index when arrived. 20k solo on hunting grounds so was very much a XC type course including a small little creek crossing on a tiny bridge and a log to go over. Treated it as 4x5k since race format was to drink a beer before each lap. Had the lead in the first lap and kept pressing because I was afraid someone might get me on the age grading. 3rd lap was definitely the toughest one. Won the whole race. 1.24 total time. After age grade (.91) and beer bonus (8 min), final time was 1.08.30. 1.16.43 was next best. 6.46 avg with beers. Drank and recovered from beers faster than I thought. Wanted to avg 22 per lap. Splits were: 19.09, 20.50, 21.32, 22.30. Warmed up probably less than 1/2 mile and warmed down maybe a mile. Course was dry. Little bit of mud ran thru. Would be a really fun event to bring alot of folks to.
