Felt really good. Start was a bit tough as I was behind the elite and did not get across the start line for 6 sec. Settled in and ran with a guy for about 4 miles. Was on my own the rest of the way trying to keep a few guys in contact. Used GPS to try and keep the pace steady around 5.40-5.45. Was about 42 degrees, overcast and puddles from the night before. First 6 miles were fast on the roads but the last couple miles were on bike/cart paths and some dirt where it was a bit tough to keep momentum. Ran a bit conservative not knowing for sure what I had in me. Had a gel around 8. Stayed smooth and relaxed and kicked in hard. 5.42 avg for 1.14.38. 8th overall. Won masters but was really 2nd master as Mark Hobbs won overall. Warmed up about 1 mile and warmed down 2.5 miles. Great post race food and drink. Well run race.
