Felt great! Finished 2nd. Weather was in 60s when started with light drizzle so the trails were slick. Ran with Jay. First 800m had to walk was so steep. 15 out to turn around then 13 back. Jay and I took it under control for 1st half then pressed a little but kept it safe on way back. At 15 it was raining, windy and cold at the top of the mountain. We went without packs and instead carried water and used the aid stations. With about 4 to go, Jay was pressing and I was trailing. Around 3 he seemed to slow which I later learned was stomach issues but I saw an opening and pushed. I confused at an intersection in the woods and waited 25 sec for Jay to help. Pushed again after that running scared all the way to the finish. The most scenic race I have ever done. 4k of elevation gain/loss. A terrific event. Was so fun to do with a great friend as well.
