Today's run was nothing but mud, knee-deep water, and freezing temperatures. Took a tumble once when my ankle got caught by a vine, got lost once, and spent a lot of time trying to avoid the muck, mostly unsuccessful at that! You knew 1/2 mile into the event that there was no chance for a PR (did this race in 1:29:56 in 2008 under much better conditions: cold but dry).
