Out 8:35, Back 8:26. I really enjoyed this! The winner went off like a bat out of hell at the start and ended up sub 16, but I quickly settled in second with a more positive start than a few weeks ago. A Serpy runner settled in behind me after a few hundred metres but I just concentrated on keeping good form and didn't look back just passing a comment when a great big dog dropping a huge stick on the path in front. I felt the guy coming up along side towards the half way switch back (30m further along this time so confirming the last course was a tad short). Then on the way back he crept past and I decided to slot in behind. He kept pushing and slowly started pulling a few metres out of me until he was probably 8-10 metres up, but then as I sensed we were nearing the finish I got a few back. Then I spotted the gap in the hedge that leaves the 100 metres to the finish and put my foot down and closed just behind him as we passed through. I felt him respond for a split second as I came on his shoulder, but then I put the hammer down and took 3 seconds out of him in the last 100! God I love a good old fashioned sprint fest! This was brill!
