I estimated I could run 19:30 tonight. 3 reasons...
1. I am a bit for fit than last month.
2. I was more rested.
3. I wore the racing flats. Last time it was trainers.
Clocked 19:28, so i achieved my goal. Splits were pretty even. In the last 200, one of the younger runners who started after me, caught up and passed me. Always having a good kick, I tried to stay with him but last about 5 seconds. Not only does being older and not in top form yet result in a diminished kick... the hamstring which didn't bother me so far in the race, tightened up, so even if I could kick, it wasn't going to happen.
Last time was 19:50, so a 22 second improvement. I am on track to set one of my goals for the year... a sub 19:00 5K!
