Notes
I am annoyed with myself. I did something I have never done in the past. I missed the start of the race! I put down 7:30pm in my diary, but the race started at 7:00.
I went ahead and ran by myself 15 minutes after the race went off. It's difficukt to get into a race effort alone. My effort was more like tempo the first half and race effort the 2nd half when I caught the back of the pack.
The good news is I didn't run 'all out' and was 1 second per mile faster than last year and wasn't as tired as I normally would racing. I didn't run the full 5 miles because I started about 150m beyond the start line. So, I estimate, my actual 5 mile time would have been about 30 seconds longer.
Lesson learned... double check race start times. :-)
