Notes

This was a day to remember. With the temps at 15 degrees and wind chill at 3 below I wasn't looking forward to this run. I called Reno to give me a little 'pep talk'. I knew if I mentioned to him I was planning on a long run and if I bailed out, I would be weak. so Reno was my accountability partner. :o)

I had on 3 layers, 2 hats and 2 pairs of gloves. The Vaseline for the face worked great. It really helped keep my face from getting battered from the wind. Thanks coach!

I mentally and physically geared up to deal with this. I had my music, took a 5 hour energy and did core exercises before I ran to generate some body heat. I wanted every 'edge' I could get. :o)

First 5 miles were into brutal cold wind. I didn't look at my watch the entire run. It felt like I was running 9 min miles into the wind. It was only later when I got home that I knew that i was faster. The worst part was the wind crossing a bridge to get to the other side of the Mystic River. That was a nasty 300 meter run. Since this was mostly a flat route I did 2 turns around the Williams St hills from 13 to 15.5. I moderately pushed the hills. I finished off feeling I could have easily did 20, which i will do next time.
