Notes

Because of how tired I was and not being to get any sleep, I was not enjoying this RTB as much as previous years. But all that changed on my last leg. I decided not to worry about sleep, Achilles or anything and just run as hard as I could. I didn't care what happened. Well an amazing thing happened. I was shocked that I was able to run as fast as I did under the conditions. It felt liberating to just run with my heart and soul, and just throw myself out there. It's incredible what the body can do when you just go for it. This route had a lot of up and downs. I thought I would be very sore in a few days because I hadn't done much hill running in a few months, but I was fine. I ran the last .75 at 6:15 pace. My teammates all got psyched after my run and they too ran their butts off.

So this whole event just flipped around for me because I refused to feel sorry for myself and just run hard. Elynn was our last runner, bringing the bone to Hampton Beach. Her leg was only 4 miles, but she struggled with dehydration, but she made it!. After the photos at the beach, we had a post race BBQ at Gordon's house about 20 minutes away. We hadn't done this before so this was a great way to spend time with the other 6 team members from the other van.

One of the most amazing things about a race like this is you go through so many different emotions, i.e. pain, tiredness, elation, happiness, irritation, etc. The bonding experience is unique. There is nothing quite like a relay race like this. :)

I left about 9:00 PM. The ride home was the worst part of the trip as I really struggled to make it.
