Notes
This was such a strange run. I went out at 6:30 PM and it was still hot about 82. I felt dehydrated all day and even though I drank fluid before I left I can sense the dehydration. This run was on part road and trail. About 3 miles in I felt very weak and tired and the desire to stop running was overwhelming. Even at the end of marathons I didn't feel like this. I ran miles 3-5 @ over 10 minutes pace. This was due to the way I was feeling and being on a slow trail. I fought through this and forced myself to pick it up and I actually felt better. The last mile I clocked 7:55 and this included a half mile uphill climb. So I was all over the map today from pathetic slow to a decent last mile. The interesting thing is my effort didn't really change much. I chalk this up to feeling like crap and letting those negative thoughts creep in. When I let go of the negative stuff by doing a mantra, I ran much better. The mind does indeed effect the body. I haven't been training hard at all for months and now I sense I'm about to do the work even with a niggling hamstring. I want to do at least one race before the Ollie 5 miler. If the hamstring allows me to put in some 6:00 pace running in the next few weeks, I will do Ollie.
