Vancouver Marathon disaster. The race was changed to a 7:00am start instead of 7:15 and I didn't know it. I barely made it on time. I had to pee but didn't have time. I felt lousy right from the beginning. I ws 7 sec off my goal pace. (6:22 instead of 6:15.) I needed badly to take a leek, bit didn't see a porta-potty, so i held it. By mile 13, miraculously, the urge to pee went away. Reno, who was coaching me from Georgia afterwards mentioned this can happen as the body pulls water to hold off dehydration.

I started to feel much better and felt myself getting stronger. The bad news is I somehow missed to turn separating the half marathons from marathoners. I didn't see any support crew and indicate the turn and I wound up continuing on the half course. I realized what happened as i could hear the load speaker as i was headed to the finish. When i knew what happened I dropped to my knees and was distraught at 18 miles. No way I could run back and get on course as i would be doing around 30 miles. I was angry that there wasn't better course management with all the number of runners.

Afterwards I was annoyed because I felt i would have been able at hold pace, or even go faster and would have been a sub 2:45, a 11 minute PR. My best going in was a 2:56 years ago at Cape Cod. i was in my best marathon shape in my life and all for nothing.
