Notes

After yesterday's encouraging run I decided to race today as planned. instead of the Stoneham 5K, I found out there was a new race right here in East Boston. Starting at Pier's Park and going through Breeman Park. I run here almost every day so i was looking forward to this. I didn't know how the hamstring would react but i need to start racing to get ready for the USATF 5K.

Warming up I felt good. however at mile 3 the hamstring started to act up. I decided to still give it a shot, but if it got worse I would drop out. I didn't go out as hard as I normally would in a 5K, (6:21 first mile). Right from the beginning the leg hurt, but I felt it it didn't get worse, I can stay at this speed and at least get a decent workout. Right at 1.9 it gave out and I stopped right there and walked/jogged home.

I could tell my fitness level isn't there. Even with no injury 6:10 pace would probably been about the best I could do.
