Notes
This is a tough course. I think it's hillier than the Dumfries Half Marathon. Advertised as a 12 mile race, the race director before the start mentioned it was 12.2 and it was close. My watch had it at 12.18.
Mile 2 is hilly, 3 is the only flat mile. 4 another tough climb and then the break, a long downhill from 4-6.5. Next 2,5 miles were slightly undulating, so fairly easy and then 9-2 undulating and more uphill than downhill. Last .2 uphill.
I had an excellent run. My only slight struggle was the downhill beating. I hadn't trained at all with any fast downhill running. Legs felt a bit rubbery after the downhill, but I held it together.
Weather was excellent. Mid 40's and not too windy.
1:25:42, (7:02 pace), 7th place in a small field of 38 runners.
