Wow I am shocked! I was tired on the drive back from RI, so I stopped at Starbucks for a strong latte. When I went out for another 5 miles when I got home I felt great. I didn't realize I was running as fast as I did until I saw the second mile split of 7:37. I said to myself - slow down this is supposed to be recovery. I thought I slowed the next mile but it was even faster - 7:31. At this point I didn't worry about pace and just relaxed and ran comfortably.

I love Starbucks. :o) I've noticed that caffeine affects me differently in the afternoon than the morning. I get more of a 'boost' when I run after coffee in the afternoon than the morning. I've tested this with drinking the same amount of coffee when having coffee at home so it's not just the strong Starbucks latte that's doing it.

The right hamstring was a little funny all day.I could feel it going to small spasms driving, but running it was fine. However even now as I type this I can feel it a bit. So I need to be careful and not overdue it. I probably ran too fast today after a race day, but i couldn't slow down - it felt easy.
