This was a test day to see if my body could handle speed. I did 4 x 200 with 1 minute rest, 2 x 1 mile with 3 minute rest and finished off with 4 x 200. I was planning to do the miles around 6:05 pace. Mile one went well at 6:03 and legs felt fine... only slight groin pain. Mile 2 my leg felt fine so I pushed hard the last 200 which gave me a 5:59 mile. The groin - no problem. My cardio was working harder the last 200 than at any point in the 5 mile race. It felt great to just run hard and not have my legs hold me back! I'm amazed at how day to day my running is. Two days ago I couldn't run and today I had a great workout. Who knows what tomorrow brings? :) This was the first time in months that I felt I was 'doing the work' without any restrictions. I haven't been able to run under 6:00 for a mile since November, so this is a positive step in the right direction.
