Notes

I actually took a trip to Blue Marsh Lake to do the first trail run of the year and the first since last August of 2023. So, it had been 8 months.

Because I wanted to get as many steps in as possible (for the work steps challenge), I opted for the full 30 mile loop. I did the ski slope loop, which I found out to be the name of the 7.5 mile section loop, first. I took nothing with me except a couple of endurolytes. It was really muddy, and I got mud all over me in the first couple miles. I took one around mile 4 or 5 and then it just turned into an acid reflux situation where my esophagus was burning out. Forced me to stop to walk for a while. Finished the loop in 1:20.

Took 6 minutes to refuel and change at my car, then started on the big 22.5 mile loop. Again, it was very muddy in spots, and there were a number of felled trees blocking the path.

I could feel my quads starting to get sore, which I knew wasn't a good sign. Hamstrings were also getting sore. I ran out of fluids about 2.5 miles from the finish, so started walking, since I was feeling light headed and didn't want to take a gel with caffeine in it. Plus, walking, I figured, would get me more steps in, so I walked the last 2 miles in.

I really should have eased into trail running with just the 22.5 mile section. 2 Endurolytes consumed, 2 20 oz bottles of fluid and 2 and a half cliff bars.
