Notes

1st run back in Madison. The pace felt very easy especially after taking the day completely off yesterday. Hamstrings still a little tight, but otherwise my legs felt really great. For some reason not known to me my stomach was a bit tight at about mile 8. I hadn't eaten anything since Perkins at about 10 AM so I am not sure where that came from. Not a real issue though

I was a little disappointed to find that the trail was still almost completely covered in snow..wtf. I guess the snow isn't all bad though. It definitely helps to slow down the pace during this Phase 1 of building miles. The snow also makes running a lot easier on the shins. I am going to have to watch my miles closely this spring to prevent any injuries. I have noticed that my shins have become a lot more tender when I push the mileage and I found out quickly after playing one day of basketball last week that my training is tuning my body to be very sport specific towards running. I have never focused this much of my time towards running before. Too much running will cause other muscles to strengthen and other muscles to atrophy. This imbalance can be one ingredient in the recipe for an injury.
