8:45-9:26(saw what time I was at mile 35)....Caryn came along to crew. a beautiful, low humidity, breezy day...conditions were perfect and i felt good. my legs felt good the entire way...they were on the verge of cramping towards the end, but i was able to continue getting salt tablets and gels down...used alot of tailwind as well. mentally i was in a good spot the whole race. took my time the first 10-12 miles going up/down and up the mountain. felt good at both the 11m and 19m AS. at mile 30 i thought i could run the last 40m in 10hrs and with 30m left, felt i could run it in 8hrs....Caryn was at all checkpoint AS's. overall, was a little surprised that the trail was more technical than expected. there were also some smaller hills(100-200 ft. climbs) throughout. towards end going down mountain, it got rocky....evened out and runnable the last mile to the finish. i passed alot of people during the course of the day. i remember being passed once. very pleased with my result. was expecting an under 19 hr. finish if everything went as planned....tried to push for under 18 hrs. only 95 finishers with 136 starting.
