from Vogel State Park to Amicalola Falls...18,000 + ft. elevation gain.....I was 117 out of 184 finishers...with 96 DNF's. this race was tough. there was a long climb over 2000ft. at the beginning of the race, followed by "dragon's spine" between mile 15-28 with continuous up and downs. a couple long stretches on service/fire roads, and a tough finish, going down past the Amicalola Lodge down a rocky trail to the bottom, then back up the mtn using the falls stairs, then halfway down the mtn on road, getting on a trail and steep decline, before finishing. probably the toughest race i've done. the weather was nice, took it easy throughout. made sure i got lots of calories early....fought through a few tough times...proud to have finished. Caryn and Pat Collins crewed me and Michelle Kacer met them at the race to help out.
