Day 9....Harper's Ferry to Pen Mar.......Me, Jen Henry, and Stacy Gautsch.......a windy, overcast day. we started off a little later than we wanted to. harper's ferry was a cool little town. had a couple nice views there. I wanted to stay with Jen and Stacy and for the first two/three aid stops, I did (15 mile range). at one point, stopped at an overlook and when i got back on the trail, i saw Stacy, who thought Jen was in from of us, i went ahead and never saw them again. a lot of civil war history along the trail including the Washington monument and other certain spots. i missed an aid station and continued....i saw a bear in brush running away from me and saw 6 or more deer. i twisted my anke 4-5 times....overall the trail was running at most spots on the ridges. towards the end on the ridge it got rocky and the last 2-3 miles were very rocky in the dark. both Jen and Stacy finished after me and seemed tired. I felt good throughout, keeping well hydrated.
